Naturally luxurious, this model is upholstered in premium basane leather – a full-grain sheepskin with an exceptionally soft and satin-like touch. It is treated using vegetable tanning, an artisanal technique practised in one of the last tanneries in the ‘Golden Basane’ region. This process preserves the leather’s thickness, durability, and flexibility for decades.
Despite its stunning appearance, the Churchill 3-seater Chesterfield Sofa Bed is extremely functional. Hidden within its structure is a spacious convertible bed, featuring a Bultex mattress supported by sturdy wooden slats. This setup ensures that you can offer your guests relaxation, high-quality sleeping experience.
The frame and legs are made of solid beechwood, a material celebrated for its exceptional longevity. They turned wooden legs have been carefully crafted, painted black, and varnished to achieve a polished and elegant finish.

The more you use your bed, the more durable and high quality your mattress needs to be. You’ll often find mattresses on the market labelled “polyurethane foam”, but this is not enough, nor is it a guarantee of quality. In fact, these mattresses are only relatively comfortable and have a limited lifespan.
At MyClubChair, our club convertible sofas are all equipped with quality mattresses – we’ve chosen peace of mind, for our customers and for ourselves.
The bed’s mechanism is also important. It must be solid and easy to open. Make sure it’s high quality and easy to open. Remember, the sofa bed must be functional and adapt to your daily life, not the other way round. A bed that’s too heavy for you to unfold is a bed you’ll end up not using. In the end, you’ll regret your purchase, so make sure the mechanics are impeccable and solid.
Remember: it’s normal to strain a little when opening a convertible bed, but an adult should be able to unfold it easily.
For our convertible club sofas, we’ve opted for a 3-ply mechanism that inserts into the wooden frame. All our models are equipped with a cozy, 8cm HR polyurethane foam mattress. Only the Hemingway and Grand Carré convertible sofas feature a 13 cm thick mattress, for the most demanding sleepers. All our bed bases are made of wooden slats, far more comfortable and durable than the sprung bases of our ancestors.
Last but not least, our convertible bed systems are based on high-quality mechanics that are easy to open and close on a daily basis.

The leather
Our Club chairs are made of 1.4/1.6 mm thick full grain sheep leather (basane leather).
This leather is renowned for its strength and softness and guarantees excellent long-term durability.
The vegetable tanning of our skins is done in the Toulouse region by a tannery with world-renowned know-how.
During assembly, in order to obtain an optimal result, we wet the leather so that it perfectly fits the curves of the model.
We then let the skin dry naturally.
The colour and finish
Once the chair is dry, we colour it with the chosen shade.
Once dyed, the leather is patinated and waxed by hand to bring out the roughness of the leather. This step underlines the elegance and the beautiful natural colour of the material. The back is studded or finished with piping, as desired.

The frame
The frame and legs of our models are made entirely of solid beech. Our wood is kiln-dried, which increases its strength. The joints are carefully stapled and glued.
There are 2 types of frames:
The seat cushion is lowered more, which can cause problems when standing up.
